In line with my intention to create a vast body of work, in addition to my word of the year being consistency, I decided to undertake a project at the end of which I’ll have over fifty pieces of ceramic art and a consistent ceramic studio practice. I will be creating one ceramic art piece a week over the course of a year, i.e., 52 pieces of ceramic art.
Goal & Vision for the 52-Week Ceramic Art Project
The goal for this project is to develop an intimate understanding of the medium, experiment with different techniques, nurture my creativity, learn to translate my visions through this incredibly tangible medium, and ultimately grow as a ceramicist and an artist.
My vision for the project is to showcase all 52 pieces in a physical space. I want people to be able to have a 360° view of the pieces, to be able to notice and appreciate the little details, observe the marks left by my hands, see the light reflect from the glazes at different angles of the piece, feel the textures I leave on the piece for the viewer’s hands. I want to be able to provide an intimate and immersive experience of this body of work.
This collection will be a testament to exploration, growth and joy; and I hope the viewer can experience the same when they witness the collection up close.
You can expect monthly updates of the pieces made during the said duration on my blog here. And if you want to follow along on this year-long journey, be sure to subscribe to my email list. I will be sharing the process videos, behind-the-scenes, and all other updates with regard to my 52 pieces of ceramic art in a year on there!
