It is time you take up space, claim your innate gifts, and unapologetically share them with the world!
In this blog post I will share what I mean by innate gifts, how you can find your way back to yours, and my endeavour to embrace and unapologetically share my natural gifts by way of offering a new service in my business- a 60-minute one-on-one virtual Hearstorming Session.
What are your innate gifts?
Collins Dictionary defines ‘innate’ as a quality or ability a person is born with, and ‘gift’ as something you give someone as a present.
What I am referring to when talking about innate gifts is how you show up in the world, the parts of your personality as a social being that the people around you value.
Trusting and valuing your natural gifts
These innate gifts are our ability to show up in the world in a certain way that comes naturally to us. And therefore we tend to be dismissive of how valuable these innate ways of being and showing up are, we downplay what a gift they can be to others.
Undervaluing our natural gifts stems from us being conditioned to seek approval and validation from others. It starts with a clinical assessment of our personality and our abilities by our teachers in schools and universities through a lens of their own biases, tainted by their own limiting beliefs. Then when applying for jobs, we have to provide supporting evidence of some institution having approved the skills we claim to have, and only such skillset which comes with a seal of approval is valued. So it’s no surprise that over time we lose trust in the value of our innate gifts.
Find your way back to trusting your gifts
You can start finding your way back to trusting your gifts by first identifying them. Ask the people closest to you,
- What’s something you would come to me for advice about?
- When you think of me, what’s something you think I’m good at?
- What’s something you would consider me an expert at?
You’d be surprised to see the answers you get to these questions. It might make you go, ‘This! Seriously?’. Yes, seriously. You possess value. These things come so naturally to you that you almost dismiss the value it holds for others.
My journey of acknowledging my gifts
Coming from a profession wherein when applying for internships and jobs every skill I claimed to have in my cover letter was accompanied by a demonstration of the same, it was difficult for me to find value in skills that do not necessarily find a mention in job applications. It was hard for me to appreciate my innate gifts because I did not have any ‘formal training’ or a degree to back what I claim to know and be good at.
Sometime back I asked my childhood friends and fellow artist friends the questions I mentioned before, to find my way back to my innate gifts. And some common answers to what they would come to me for were mindset, gaining clarity of thought, picking my brain about the things I am passionate about because I have an incessant need to do in-depth research on subjects that pique my interest, and my words/ how I express the emotions we feel collectively but often struggle to find the words to.
This further made me pay close attention to how people interact with me, and I noticed a pattern. Friends and strangers alike feel comfortable about sharing things with me and they value my brazen honesty. They feel seen and heard when they interact with me, and safe to share things knowing that there will be no judgment whatsoever.
So I started thinking, how can I share my gifts with others in a way that truly lights me up?
My endeavour to unapologetically share my natural gifts
From there the idea of one-on-one Hearstorming Sessions was born.
It took me some time to share this with you because I kept thinking but wait I’m not a licensed therapist or a certified life coach, I am not ‘qualified’ to offer this. But then I reminded myself, I am not claiming to be either. Neither am I offering solutions to any mental health issues nor am I providing any counselling for personal or career challenges. I am simply offering support to artists and creative entrepreneurs on their creative journey, i.e. people walking the same path as I am.
What is a 1-on-1 Heartstorming Session?
This will be an hour-long session conducted via a video call, to address any mindset blocks you’re faced with as an artist and creative entrepreneur. I will be your sounding board and cheerleader to provide you with clarity and support for your goals and dreams. As the name suggests, it will be a heart-to-heart conversation where we will together brainstorm on how to dissolve these mindset blocks that are stopping you from living your fullest potential as an artist and creative entrepreneur.
My goal for these sessions will be that we together identify the limiting beliefs stopping you from showing up as the artist and creative entrepreneur you want to be, and discuss ways in which you can start working on overcoming those limiting beliefs.
Finding people who can truly understand what you’re experiencing as an artist and business owner is difficult, and this journey can get lonely. My hope is that at the end of the session, you walk away knowing that you are not alone, I am on a trail right next to yours and I see you.
I love supporting people and cheering them on when they unapologetically pursue their dreams. I am the kind of person who will truly believe in you and your dreams even before you yourself believe in them.
So honestly, it was a no-brainer that this is how I want to share my innate gifts of being a patient, compassionate and non-judgmental listener, and my ability to make people feel seen and heard. My acquired skills of mindset alignment, and finding clarity of my what and why, which I have gained from diving deep into the world of personal development in the past two years, marry beautifully with my innate strengths to become a valuable gift I can offer to others.
If you are ready to shake things up with a heart-to-heart and think that I will be a good match, then you can book a 60-minute one-on-one Virtual Heartstorming Session with me here.
